My old Pringle truck was difficult to work on. Are they any easier to work on now?

Answer: Absolutely! We have worked hard to minimize or eliminate the need to work on them but there will always be the occasional need to fix them as they age. In the past we tried to pack a lot into a smaller truck to maximize storage capacity and keep the price down. Our new Pringle Mega-Vac is going to be much easier to access as the compressor will be mounted inside the side compartment rather than in the back sandwiched between the side compartments. The bearings and belts will be readily accessible. There are no bearings, air hoses, air tank, or fan in the dirt box. Nothing but dirt! Some manufacturers put their fan in the dirt box making it difficult to work on or change fan bearings. Though many of these issues are still an issue on the original pringle they have been improved. By changing the location of the rear mount you now have better access to the compressor as well as more storage than ever before. With tubular drive shafts, heavier U-joints, and stainless steel braided compression hose there will be less need to fix them.


In the past I had a lot of expense rebuilding my trucks due to corrosion. Has anything been done to address this?

Answer: We were the first manufacturer to offer stainless steel as an option to alleviate this problem. It is not an option on our Pringle Mega-Vac. We automatically build them that way.


Why should I buy a Pringle truck mounted vacuum unit?

Answer: Anyone who has ever used a pringle truck mounted vacuum unit would never consider using a portable unit unless there is absolutely no possibility of reaching the duct work system with a truck. There is that much power. After all these years there is still no more powerful vacuum on the market for cleaning air ducts. The fan that was designed by my great grandfather Wilbert Pringle who was an aeronautical engineer has stood the test of time. In recent years we have been testing a new fan that is the same design only more durable. Our trucks have been used to clean duct work, wood stove’s, fire places, dryer vents, dust collections systems, remove insulation and much more. If for whatever reason you cannot reach part of the job with our truck you have the option of carrying a portable if you order your truck with that option.


How often will my Pringle truck need to be replaced?

Answer: I have someone who wants to trade in a 1974 (41 years old) Chevy Pringle truck right now as I write this. It’s actually in decent condition. If rebuilt it could be like new. How long it will last is up to you. If you and your guys take care of it it may never need replacing. Especially with stainless steel construction.


Can I access the vacuum inlet from either side of the truck?

Answer: On all models you can access vacuum from both sides of the truck. On the original pringle you have the ability of swiveling the suction inlet from side to side. On the pringle Mega-Vac we have a suction inlet that spans from side to side of truck. Therefore you will have access through a small door on each side to attach to. If needed you could even hook up hoses to both sides of the truck for multiple system applications. With a 340 or a 370 compressor you could clean both systems at the same time.


How much suction does your truck have?

Answer: Our fan is a closed face paddle fan. A closed face paddle fan is far more efficient than a traditional paddle fan. By closing the face you have no air loss between the front of the blade and the fan housing. This effects both cfm (cubic feet per minute) which is the volume of air and static pressure. Static pressure is the force of the air movement. I found out what static pressure was the hard way. When I was 13 years old my great grandfather was having me help him test the vacuum of our truck. Being young and dumb I walked too close to the vacuum pipe and it grabbed me. I ended up with a black and blue ring on my leg from the suction hose. I still remember it like yesterday even though it happened 27 years ago. With the type of fan we use I am fairly certain that nobody other than Harold’s Power-vac has as much static pressure than we do.
